1st February 2026

4 Corners Festival 2026

This year, St Brigid’s Parish are hosting one of the events of the 4 Corners Festival. The event will be in the Church, and afterwards in the Parish Centre, on Sunday, 1st February, beginning at 7.00pm.

Hear some of what Bishop Rose Hudson-Wilkin, Bishop of Dover and Suffragan Bishop of Canterbury, has learned on her journey from being “The Girl from Montego Bay” in the Caribbean to the somewhat colder climes of Kent, where she has found herself on the frontline of the “small boats” migration crisis and in the midst of ecclesiastical politics. Music will be provided by the Pro Bono Choir, a Belfast-based ensemble of lawyers who regularly perform sell-out shows for charitable causes.

The programme, listing all 4 Corners Festival events, available at the Church Entrance.

St Brigid’s Day Lecture 2026

8th February 2026

St Brigid’s Day Lecture 2026

As part of the celebration to mark the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea, Pope Leo XV1 gave an important address, at an Ecumenical Prayer Service address, at the ancient site of the town of Nicaea, Turkey. He stated, “Faith “in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages... consubstantial with the Father (Nicene Creed) is a profound bond already uniting all Christians. In this sense, to quote Saint Augustine, in the ecumenical context we can also say that, “although we Christians are many, in the one Christ we are one” (Exposition on Psalm 127).

This years St Brigid’s Day Lecture will be given by Fr Tom Layden, SJ. Fr Layden is a Jesuit priest, living and working in Belfast. His theme will be based on Pope Leo’s address, “The Nicene Creed: A foundation for Ecumenism”.

The Lecture will be in St Brigid’s Parish Centre, on Sunday 8th February, at 4.00pm. All welcome.
