The Parish Pastoral Council met on Tuesday, 11th February 2025.
Based on Chapter 5 of ‘Divine Renovation; From a Maintenance to a Missional Parish’, we are looking at hospitality and how we might make our parish more welcoming. Council noted the following:
- Rethinking the layout and usage of the church-porch and ante-room;
- Encouraging young people, newcomers and people from different backgrounds and nationalities to participate in the various ministries;
- Making full use of and expanding the role of our Welcoming Teams;
- The formation of sub-groups to implement our goals;
- An AV Screen in the porch as a source of information for parishioners;
- Consultation concerning four AV screens inside the church;
- Coffee mornings in Hall showcasing the various parish groups;
- The “Understanding the Liturgy of the Mass” meetings after Mass on Tuesday mornings is well-attended;
- The Vicariate for the Praying of Night Prayer on the Sundays of Lent has been a great success with large numbers attending;
- Alpha is playing a key role in moving from Maintenance to Mission;
- Newcomers and the growing number of young people attending have been two significant bonuses;
- The power of the Holy Spirit was very much apparent in the “Prisoner’s Story” in that the Alpha Experience had completely changed his life;
- An Alpha Training Session will take place on Wednesday, 9th April;
- An “Alpha Day-Away” will take place on Saturday, 12th April in the Parish Centre.
