PPC: Report to Parishioners
PARISHPASTORAL COUNCIL MEETINGS - REPORTS TO PARISHIONERS
Meeting Held 9 January 2018
The main topics of discussion at this meeting were preparation for the annual Parish Coming Together on 25 February 2018 and the plans for World Meeting of Families activities in the Diocese and the Parish.
Agreement was made on a potential speaker to be approached to be the main guest at the Coming Together event and on the potential theme. The Chair agreed to take forward the approach to the potential speaker.
Fr Michael McGinnity attended to inform members about WMOF activities at Diocesan level and Mrs Anne Moran attended to talk about plans at Parish level; a working group has been established to coordinate Parish plans. A dedicated area for WMOF news and resources has been set up on the Parish website.
Final details of the upcoming talk by Lord David Alton and the St Brigid's Day Lecture by Fr Paul Murray OP were agreed.
It was agreed that Mrs Michele Cunnane would represent St Brigid's on the newly formed Pastoral Community Forum - alongside Mike Moran who will be chairing the Forum. Its next meeting will be on 31 January 2018.
Meeting Held on 13 February 2018
Fr Niccolo Steiner SJ - who is on attachment to the Parish - was warmly welcomed and opened the meeting with a reflection on the readings of the First Sunday of Lent.
The main business of this month's meeting was:
- discussion on the plans for the World Meeting of Families activities to take place pre- and post-Easter; a report from a planning group meeting that took place on 6 February 2018 was discussed and the contents were approved.
- agreement on the final details of the Annual Parish Coming Together on 25 February 2018; the key activity will be a dialogue between Declan Lawn and the principal guest - Katie Ascough.
- the receipt of a report from the second meeting of the South and East Belfast Pastoral Community Forum that took place on 31 January 2018.
- continued planning for Coffee Mornings.
