Laudato Si’ week 2026 (May 17 – May 24) ‘From Hope to Action’ Join us…
The theme for this year’s Laudato Si week is ‘From Hope to Action’. What action will we take in this week to show care for our planet, our common home?
Action an Eco - Tip
- Plant butterfly and bee friendly plants in containers and gardens
- Buy locally sourced food
- Make one journey on foot or use public transport
- Turn off all non- essential lights
Start the conversation with family and friends – what can we do to care for our common home? Involve young people in our conversations – their voice matters.
Read and consider what others are saying
David Attenborough who recently celebrated his 100th birthday urges us to take action:
‘We have all the tools we need, the thoughts and ideas of billions of remarkable minds and the immeasurable energies of nature to help us in our work. And we have one more thing – an ability, perhaps unique among the living creatures on the planet – to imagine a future and work towards achieving it’ (Attenborough, D. 2020)
Pope Francis who published the encyclical Laudato Si’(LS)- On Care for Our Common Home, has every confidence that we can make change happen.
‘All of us can cooperate as instruments of God for the care of creation, each according to his or her own culture, experience, involvements and talents’ (LS14).
Let’s rise to the challenge
