Season of Creation 2025

1st September 2025

Season of Creation (1 September – 4 October). Join us …..

The Season of Creation is the annual Christian celebration inviting us to unite for a worldwide celebration of prayer and action to protect earth, our common home. Our well – being and that of our children and grandchildren is interwoven with the well-being of the earth.

As we journey through the Season of Creation from 1 September through to the feast- day of St Francis of Assisi on 4 October, let us each take action to care for our planet, our common home. ‘All of us can cooperate as instruments of God for the care of creation, each according to his or her own culture, experience, involvements and talents.’ (Laudato Si’ paragraph 14)

Pope Leo XIV invites us to continue the work highlighted by Pope Francis in his encyclical Laudato Si’ – that of working, caring and protecting the resources of our precious earth ‘based on mutual respect between human beings and nature’.

The theme for this season is ‘peace with creation’ inspired by Isaiah 32:14-18 – a ‘peace that recognises the innate dignity of all things held in the delicate ecosystem of life’.

The symbol is characterised by a dove carrying an olive branch bringing life to the Garden of Peace.

We can reduce our carbon emissions. Here are some ideas:

  • Cycle, walk , use public transport or car-share instead of driving
  • Turn off lights when leaving a room or install energy saving light bulbs
  • Use reusable water bottles/shopping bags to reduce single use plastic
  • Help to create/preserve more community green spaces by volunteering time.
